The Playfair Island custom birdhouse was completed in October 2009. The custom birdhouse was bench-made with exterior grade materials and joinery. It features three bird nesting chambers, copper-lined species sized entry holes and easy access clean out panels.
It was consigned as a gift for a very special friend’s “cottage”. The original structure, “Playfair Island” is located in Ontario, Canada, and was uniquely designed by it’s owner. It features large windows, a wrap around deck and a very involved roof line that took a great deal of patience and creativity to recreate.
As with all of my custom birdhouses, Playfair Island began as CAD drawing. This was an important part of the production process for this project. With my clients’ input and approval, I was able to perfect the design plans for the custom birdhouse and accurately capture the scale and features which make Playfair immediately recognizable.
